Temporary Anchorage Devices

TEMPORARY ANCHORAGE DEVICES (TADs)

TADs are mini screws that are inserted in the maxilla or the mandible and serve as support for the moving teeth being corrected through orthodontic treatment. This anchor is necessary for proper movement of teeth, especially when the rest of the teeth do not offer sufficient resistance. TADs are made completely of biocompatible material (titanium alloy), which is often used for dental prosthesis and in other medical sciences, such as Traumatology. They eliminate cumbesome appliances ie. headgear, and allow us to treat patients more effectively and quicker than ever before.

The procedure of insertion is very fast and painless, and is carried out with local anaesthesia. In many cases, it can be done without any anaesthesia. Smokers or mouth breathers are more prone to infection and inflammation. It is very important to maintain good oral hygiene, including the use of antiseptic mouthwash following meals.

Please call Brock Dental to set up an appointment to learn more about this procedure.
